Joan
No. 12 Joan is an 0-6-2 side tank loco. She was built in 1927 by Kerr Stuart, works no. 4404, and repatriated from the sugar cane railways of Antigua by the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, where it was restored to running order.
The loco is internally gas fired with a centre flue boiler and is gauge adjustable between 32mm and 45mm gauge. The cab roof slides back to give access to the gas, water and lubricator fillers. The model is well detailed including the characteristic balloon stack chimney and the large front headlamp. Even the louvered cab shutters slide. The engine is manually controlled but is suitable for radio control to be fitted.
The model is built from stainless steel and brass, and with the correct maintenance, will give a lifetime of pleasure.
